Lake Chabot Regional Park
Let's try something different! How about a late afternoon, wheelchair accessible walk? Audre, Roger, and Celeste will lead a walk/hike at beautiful Lake Chabot on Sunday August 9 beginning at 5 pm., ending at 7 pm. Sunset will be around 8 pm. The low light should be lovely, and it will be cooler without fog at that time of day.
The East Shore Trail is wheelchair accessible, hugs the lake, has gentle undulations, passes through alternating sunny and shady areas. Both leisure walkers, wheelchair users and those who want more of a challenge will meet at the Marina Cafe, on the deck overlooking the lake at 5 pm.
Together we will start on the East Shore Trail from there. Those who desire a challenge will be able to make a loop hike by ascending to the Hills Trail via the Cameron Loop Trail. Leisure walkers will walk "out and back" as far along the East Shore Trail as they desire. Audre Newman will be with the Leisure walkers. Roger Newman and Celeste Burrows will be with the speedier group.
It is a 25 minute drive to the park from the Rockridge BART parking lot which is free on Sundays. Take Hwy 13 South and join 580 East. Drive on 580 East about 5 more miles to the Fairmont Drive Exit and turn east on Lake Chabot Regional Park.
Carpools are important. you can park free on Lake Chabot Road near the Marina Enterance and add a 10 minute walk down to the Marina Cafe to your "transit time" or pay $5 to park at the far end of the Marina Parking lot.
Please let everyone know if you can give rides or need a ride by responding to "the Nature Walks" forum. If you want a ride or can give rides, please email or phone between August 3 - August 8:
