taking a break from her Fulbright-sponsored research in Kerala, India.

Courage to Breathe Yoga
 
Yoga Workshops:

As humans we can live for days without food and water but we can only for survive minutes without breathing. Yet most of us breathe using only a small portion of our lung capacity.          
 
Learning to take a lung capacity breath is a transformative experience.In this yoga workshop we will learn to support our yoga practice with deep breath, breathing vitality, nourishment, and feeling into our bodies and lives.
 
 
 
Workshop #1 - Courage to Breathe: Lungs
Workshop #2 - Courage to Breathe: Heart
Workshop #3 - Courage to Breathe into Your Spot
 

Workshop description:
The workshops will consist of a 60 minute breath-focused chair yoga practice followed by an optional 30 minute mat yoga practice.
 
For the chair yoga, please bring a folded towel or blanket to sit on.
Please bring your own mat for the mat yoga.

About the instructor:
Lisa Brooks is a Yoga Alliance and Forrest Yoga Certified Yoga Teacher who has been teaching yoga since 2006 and practicing for over 20 years.

 

She specializes in helping people learn to practice yoga in a gentle, healing and compassionate way and to work skillfully with physical limitations.

 

Lisa has taught at yoga studios in California, Connecticut and Oregon, including Innerstellar Pilates and Yoga in Berkeley. She has studied extensively with Ana Forrest, a modern pioneer in yoga as a healing practice and assisted Forrest Yoga Foundation Teacher Trainings. Lisa has a degree in Human Biology and is attuned to the special physical and health needs of seniors. As an undergraduate at Stanford she co-founded Side By Side, a community service performance group that has now been serving seniors on the Peninsula for over two decades. She is currently a Ph.D. candidate at UC Berkeley.
