Saturday, May 28, from 11:00 a.m. - 1:30 p.m.  All levels. Not wheelchair accessible

Location: We will meet in at the parking lot or 11500 Skyline Blvd, less than 1/8 mile after the intersection where Joaquin Miller Road meets Skyline Blvd., Oakland.  On the left.

Description: This 3+ mile hike is lovely and interesting, passing briefly through open serpentine prairie before descending into creekside redwoods. We will start at Skyline Drive and head southeast on the Dunn trail for ~1/2 mile before joining the Golden Spike trail.  This trail has some short steep* stretches, but is mostly level. After a mile, we will turn L onto Montiero trail for a steady .4 mile up hill.  We turn L again onto the Dunn trail for a mild uphill mile through pines and arching oaks and bay trees and finally prairie to return to the trailhead. The trail is part single track and part dirt road.

Options of lesser and greater length and altitude change are available for those who want more or less challenge, but the trail is not suitable for wheelchairs.

Directions: Hwy 13 south to Joaquin Miller Road exit. Go left at the stop sign to get on Joaquin Miller Rd.  Follow J. Miller Road until it meets Skyline Drive at the traffic light.  Continue straight a short distance on Skyline, and park in the lot, left side of the road, 11500 Skyline.

Weather: Heavy rain a day ahead or on the day cancels.  Bring poles if you use them, water, wind-breaker, snacks.  We may have lunch together at a nearby to-be-determined location after the walk.

Carpools: If you CAN DRIVE and take riders, please let everyone know by responding to this forum (not me directly) and indicate how far you are willing to go to pick up riders. Please include your phone number.

If you NEED A RIDE, please respond to this forum giving your cross streets and phone number, and then follow up with a person who is offering the ride.  Thanks for making this process easier.
