Nature Walk along Tidal Arrowhead Marsh

~Great for wintering and migrating water birds~

WHEN: Saturday, December 10, from 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.

WHERE: Martin Luther King Jr. Regional Shoreline Park, Oakland, CA

Starting at the Observation Tower this paved, flat path winds along the shoreline of Arrowhead Marsh on San Leandro Bay, a favorite stopover or wintering spot for migrating shorebirds and ducks.  The tide will be at its optimum height for watching birds if you wish to. Walkers can go at their own pace, fast and far for speedy walkers, and slower and not as far for the rest of us.

Where to meet: Parking lot near the tall observation tower in Martin Luther King Jr. Regional Shoreline accessible from Swan Way off Doolittle Drive in Oakland. We will meet in the parking area in front of the accessible bathrooms.

Carpools can be arranged if you RSVP to Audre that you would like to carpool (3 days before the walk), please indicate your neighborhood, your phone, and whether you'd like to ride or drive. The Fremont BART train stops at the Coliseum which is the closest to the park.  Carpools can arrange to meet walkers there.

How to get there: From I-880 in Oakland, exit at Hegenberger Road and head west. Turn right onto Doolittle Drive (Hwy. 61) and right again onto Swan Way. You will immediately turn left into the park and continue until you reach the parking lot at the end, near the tall observation tower.
