WHEN
: Saturday, June 10, 2017, 10:30 AM until 12:30 PM
WHERE
:
Tilden Park,
Big Springs parking area on the east side of South Park Drive.
June is usually one of the warmer months in Berkeley, so walking in the morning is coolest, and the view to the west the best. The walk begins at Big Springs Parking area on South Park Drive just north of Padre Picnic ground. We all walk up the gradual slope (with a couple of short steeper areas) for less than a mile, joining the Lower Big Springs Trail and continuing .21 miles until we reach the Seaview Trail. This is a good turning around point for the “easy” component of this walk, which is 2 miles total loop distance. The “challenging” component of the walk turns east at the Seaview Trail, and returns south along the Tilden ridge, for 1.35 miles to the Upper Big Spring Trail where we descend to Big Springs, for a total loop of 3 miles. Optional lunch in Berkeley, or beer stop at some as yet to be determined pub
Where to meet
Meet at the Big Springs parking area on the east side of South Park Drive. Portapotties are NOT available there. Portapotties and water are available at nearby Laurel Picnic area, and at nearby Tilden Botanic Garden on Wildcat Cyn Road
