SOCIAL AND CULTURAL ACTIVITIES

CHECK THE CALENDAR FOR ALL EVENTS

ARTS AND CULTURE SERIES, EMBRACING CHANGE SERIES, TECHNOLOGY WORKSHOPS, EDUCATIONAL EVENTS, ETC.

Each year our Arts and Cultures series offers three events, with speakers drawn from our unique wealth of talented members and volunteers. These featured speakers are often nationally recognized poets, writers, artists, and academics. Embracing Change Series organizes expert panels, discussion groups and facilitated talks on a range of aging topics. Technology Workshops introduce members to new devices and new applications. More about past events. Regularly check our calendar for upcoming events!

HAPPY HOURS, TEAS, POTLUCKS... AND MORE!

Ashby Village Happy Hours are organized on the first Friday of every month, from 4:00pm-5:30pm at the Ashby Village Office, 1821 Catalina Ave, Berkeley. The office is wheelchair accessible. Please call us if you need a ride: 510-204-9200.
Other social events are organized by Neighborhood Groups. They take place in members' houses or in local restaurants and cafes. These events are meant to offer our members and volunteers an opportunity to get to know each other, engage in meaningful conversations, and have fun!

ANNUAL PICNIC & HOLIDAY PARTY

Every September we invite members and volunteers to bring friends and family and spend a leisurely Saturday afternoon in the beautiful (and fully wheelchair accessible) Padre picnic site in Tilden Park. Bring food or drinks, games and folding chairs!
We also offer the perfect way to celebrate the winter holidays with delicious food and terrific music.
This is part of building a Village: meeting people, sharing food and having fun together.

90+ TEA PARTY

It is held every  year in May in honor of the village’s members in their 90s. Read about this year's event (May 27, 2017) and enjoy the video!

INTEREST GROUPS

Ashby Village Interest Groups are self-managed and spring up when members or volunteers express an interest and then put one together.
They include Macular-Degeneration, 80+, Movie Goers, Book Clubs, Mac Users, etc. You're welcome to join one of them or start a new one. Discover Ashby Village current Interest Groups. All their events feature in the online calendar

neighborhood GROUPS

The seven Ashby Village Neighborhood Groups (learn more here) sponsor a wide variety of events, including happy hour get-togethers, pot luck lunches and dinners, lunches at neighborhood restaurants, discussions around specific topics, walks, teas, puzzle groups, knitting groups, IT groups, readings, going to he movies, etc.

Many events are organized by the Events Team and by the Arts & Culture Team ... and they are looking for volunteers!

If you need a ride to any event, please allow us to find you a volunteer driver! For more info...
