Now More than Ever: Help for Older Adults
For Release: Monday, July 27, 2020
Contact: Su-Yin Bickner, sbickner@ashbyvillage.org
What: A virtual introduction to a compelling approach that helps older adults stay in their homes and communities and thrive.
Who: Ashby Village, a non-profit organization serving Albany, Berkeley, El Cerrito, Emeryville, Kensington, North Oakland and Richmond presents a virtual living room chat to explain how the village model supports people as they age. More information about Ashby Village is available at https://ashbyvillage.org
When: Sunday, August 9, 2-4 p.m. https://www.ashbyvillage.org/content.aspx?page_id=4002&club_id=748044&item_id=1251718
Why: “There has always been a need for services that make it possible for vibrant older people to stay in their homes with some support. During the pandemic, older people most definitely need a way to stay connected and stimulated,” says Andy Gaines, Executive Director of Ashby Village.
How: Ashby Village’s trained volunteers help older adults get groceries and medications, participate in exercise groups, use technology, hear friendly voices and much more. The living room chat will give guests a chance to meet some of the members and volunteers, learn about what services and activities the Village provides – especially now during shelter-in-place - and ask questions.
