Ashby Village has hundreds of wonderful volunteers who can help you with many tasks, (albeit some services are limited due to current COVID-19 precautions). Sometimes, though, you will need a professional for a variety of reasons including required experience, skills or licensing, or the task may simply be unsafe or inappropriate to ask a volunteer to tackle, etc.
Good news! We maintain two lists of professional providers who may be able to help!
Preferred Service Provider List
These providers can help with those tasks that need special experience and skill. Each have been referred and recommended by an Ashby Village Member who has been satisfied with their service. They fill out a formal provider application and the Preferred Provider Team (Member Volunteers Judy Boe, Joann Sullivan and Patte Bishop) begin the process of screening. They interview them, check their license (if applicable), and contact their references.
Member-to-Member List
If you need help in areas that pose higher liability, (such as legal, financial, or medical), we may be able to provide you a given name of someone on our Member-to-Member List. Although they are not fully screened, these folks have all been referred by Ashby Village Members who have used the provider and have been happy with their service. In addition, the Member-to-Member list contains the names of people who can provide other services but have chosen not to go through our formal application process.
"We always felt it was important that our members could find providers that were reliable," Judy says. "Joann and I knew several who had done good work, and we invited them to apply to be on our list. We only chose responsible people who we knew would treat seniors well."
Ashby Village is always looking for additional reliable and skilled professionals such as electricians, gardeners, plumbers, etc. to add to our list(s). If there is someone you have used and think they would be a good resource for other Ashby Village Members, please encourage them to apply to be one of our providers.
