Where:  Oakland Ferry at Jack London Square, at 10 Clay St. Meet: 10 am at the ferry entrance, next to the Potomac. The ferry departs at 10:15; allow ample time for parking and for finding your way.

Accessibility: Not wheelchair accessible


BART: take BART to 12 St station, and from there the 72 bus from 14th St and Broadway to Jack London Sq, 2nd St and Washington St. 
AC transit:  
route 72 stops a couple of blocks away on 2nd and Washington St.  The 12 bus from west and downtown Berkeley also stops nearby at the Oakland Amtrak Station on 2nd St and Jackson. 
Parking: 
Free (validated) parking is available at Jack London Sq. at 101 Washington St, in the 7 story parking garage (validate parking tickets at the ferry terminal.)

Description: We'll take the ferry to the San Francisco Ferry Building and the free Presidio Shuttle at 11:30 from Drumm and California St (near Embarcadero BART) to the Presidio. See Presidio Route Map for the shuttle location. (Allow time to find it or check out the location in advance.)

Once there we'll have lunch at a Presidio cafe or on the lawn, take trails to several of Andy Goldsworthy's art structures.and walk along a segment of the Bay Area Ridge Trail. Alternatively, you may visit the award-winning Exclusion exhibit (which tells the story of the Presidio's role in the Japanese American internment), or ride shuttles around the property. The Presidio is rich with exhibits, historical features, hiking trails, a monarch butterfly garden, and more; we'll plan return trips later in the year to see more of these.

We'll return on the 4pm ferry to Oakland or you may return on BART from the Embarcadero.

Other: Dress for variable weather, with shoes for pavement and trail; bring lunch or snacks and liquids.

Ferry price is $3.50 senior, use Clipper Card or buy ticket on board.
