Many options, Easy to Challenging, depending on your speed and the trails selected.
Pt. Pinole is a great park with lots of options (
http://www.ebparks.org/parks/pt_pinole
): gorgeous views across San Pablo Bay of Marin County and beyond, crisscrossed with pathways through meadows and eucalyptus forests; paved paths for speedy wheelchairs, mostly flat, and interesting history.
Where to meet:
We will meet in the parking lot at 3000 Atlas Road, Richmond, CA. There is an accessible toilet there.
What to bring:
Good hiking shoes or boots for the trails, layered clothing for variable weather, water, windbreaker, snacks. Hiking poles are optional, but a good idea for the longer option.
How to get there:
From I-80 in Richmond take the Richmond Parkway exit and go west towards the Bay. Cross San Pablo Avenue and turn right on to Atlas Road. Follow Atlas Road for approximately 1 mile to reach the park entrance. Mileage from I-80 to the Atlas entrance is approximately 2.5 miles.
From I-580 east of the Richmond/San Rafael Bridge: exit at Richmond Parkway/Castro Street and go north for approximately 5.75 miles to Atlas Road. Turn left on to Atlas Road for approximately 1.25 miles to the park entrance.
Carpools:
If you need a ride or can give a ride, call or email Audre a few days in advance for arranging a pickup near your home or at a BART station.
Public transit:
See AC TRANSIT by calling 511, or on the internet at 511.org.
