Documenting History with Frances Reid


               When: January 26th, 2020, 2:00 – 4:00 pm

Frances Reid will read from her memoir about making one of her early documentaries, “Greetings from Washington DC,” and will then show the film which chronicles the first ever National March on Washington for Lesbian and Gay Rights in 1979.   This screening will be one of the few times the film has been publicly screened in over 30 years.


Frances Reid is an acclaimed Bay Area documentary filmmaker. Her films include the Sundance Grand Jury winning and Oscar nominated film “Long Night’s Journey into Day” and “Skin Deep.” She was also the cinematographer for the Oscar winning “The Times of Harvey Milk.”
