The Lake Merritt bird walk will be an easy one—short and level—and we should see lots of birds and ducks. The lake should be teeming at this time. Expect to see a wide variety of winter ducks. And additional species including various kinds of gulls, grebes, swallows, terns, herons, egrets, geese, and maybe hummingbirds. Bring binoculars if you have them. I will also bring a spotting scope so that you will get excellent looks at some of these birds.
