We return to Jewel Lake and the Nature Center trails to learn about the changes the Winter season brings to the bird populations here. The trails are scenic and mainly flat, with easy walking, but may be uneven or muddy in places. Pace is relaxed and distance can be 1-3 miles with several turn back options. Our guide is master birder and Village member Eric Schroeder.
Where to meet
: Meet at 8:00 am in the parking lot of the Environmental Education Center/Little Farm, at the northern end of Tilden Park. Dress warmly, hat and gloves helpful, and bring binoculars if you have them. Hiking poles are optional.
Carpool
: Contact Celeste or Eric for possible pickup at North Berkeley BART
Transit
:
The 67 bus departs downtown Berkeley every half hour and, on the weekends, has a stop right at Tilden's Nature Area/Little Farm.
