Description:
Alvarado Park is a charming little gem with intriguing trails along Wildcat Creek with very little elevation gain. A moderate trail just south of Alvarado Park leads about 300 ft. up the grassy and flower-covered hills past vernal pools to the ridge. From here there are grand views of the Bay and Marin County. We loop back down passing the barely discernible ruins of an old sanitarium.
If
you prefer a more gentle option, we can drive (5 minutes) to the Alvarado Park trailhead from Monte Cresta.
Where to meet:
Parking Lot for Alvarado Park
What to bring:
Good walking shoes, binoculars if you have them, layered clothing for variable weather, water, sunscreen, poles can be helpful in case there has been recent rain and the hilly trails are slppery.
Directions:
North on I-80 to the Solano Exit IN RICHMOND. Left immediately onto Amador Street for 3 blocks. Turn Right onto McBryde Ave for 5 intersections to Park Avenue. Follow Park Ave to the right, and enter the Alvarado Parking Lot. We will meet at the near end of the lot.
Carpools:
For carpools write to the hikers email group at walks@ashbyvillage.org and state where you can be picked up.
