Nature Walk Tilden Regional Park, Moderate Walking Level. FULL!

Description:  Spring has come to the Berkeley Hills!  This time of year we will start to see wild flowers in abundance.  The trail traverses the western slope with just two short steeper stretches to the best wildflower patches. Those desiring more exercise can follow the ridge up and down moderate hills before we turn around and head back. Wonderful views to the west of the East Bay, Golden Gate Bridge and the City in the distance.  To the east of the ridge we may see Diablo Valley, Walnut Creek, Briones Park and beyond, on a clear day.  A 2-day break in the rain is predicted for Wednesday.

Where to meet: We will meet in the parking lot just beyond the Steam Trains off Lomas Cantadas Road, east of Grizzly Peak. There is an accessible toilet near there.

What to bring: Good hiking shoes or boots for the trails, layered clothing for variable weather, water, windbreaker, snacks. Hiking poles are optional, but a good idea for the longer option.

How to get there:  You can take Ashby Ave east, Left on Claremont Drive, Left on Grizzly Peak, Right on Lomas Cantadas, first Left toward Steam Trains, pass the steam trains and bear Right to get to the trailhead parking lot at the far end.  Alternatively, you can take Marin Ave East (or Centennial Dr.) to Grizzly Peak Blvd, turn Right, continue on to Lomas Cantadas, turn Left, and take the first Left.

Carpools: If you need a ride or can give a ride, please "respond to all" on the reminder emal and give your location and contact info for a ride from your home or a convenient BART station. As a last resort, call or email Audre (audrenew@gmail.com, 510-548-0530)  PUBLIC TRANSIT: see AC TRANSIT by calling 511, or on the internet at 511.org.
