The Social Hour Team Presents:
Friday Afternoon at the Movies
Monthly Film Series

A Feature Film Discussion of... Our Souls at Night

a film starring Jane Fonda and Robert Redford
(1 hours, 43 mins., USA, 2017,
available on Netflix)

Welcome to our monthly film discussion series! Last month we had 28 participants who got together for a lively and in-depth discussion of PHILOMENA. Join us for our next movie -- OUR SOULS AT NIGHT-- a touching, romantic film for Valentine’s Day.

Plan to see “Our Souls at Night” on your own or with a friend on Netflix before our discussion group meets. At our Zoom get-together, we will then discuss what we thought about the film, i.e., the themes, characters, what we liked (or not), what it made us think about, etc.

About the film:

Addie Moore and Louis Waters, a widow and widower, have lived next door to each other for years. When Addie tries to make a connection with her neighbor, the two begin sleeping in bed together platonically to alleviate their loneliness. Stay tuned to see what happens as their relationship deepens.

Here’s what one person said about the film: I simply loved this film. Two great actors, in the autumn of their lives, illustrating so perfectly the truism that loneliness can lead to so much more. Their relationship develops over time… It is emotionally riveting, without falling into the trap of being slushy. I highly recommend it.

Do you have any feature films for our series to recommend, which are either on Netflix or Amazon? The Events Planning Team welcomes your ideas and suggestions! Please let me know. “See you” at our film discussion…. Arlene arlenereiff@gmail.com
