 Ashby Village volunteer Mark Tarses will talk about some colorful characters who lived in San Francisco in the 1800s, including: 

- Emperor Norton, who truly believed that he was the Emperor of the United States. 

 

- Big Bertha, his romantic leading lady weighed 350 to 400 pounds. Nevertheless, she was San Francisco's pin-up girl of her time. Big Bertha made a fortune swindling romantic suitors who wanted to marry her.
