The Next Steps Group is currently FULL and not able to accept new members at this time.
The NEXT STEPS group is for individuals who want to continue living in their own homes and be as safe, healthy, socially connected and financially sound as possible. It takes work and planning. We have had presentations and worked on: making our houses safer; finding service providers for in-home care/home maintenance/paying bills; choosing a good rehab facility; building a support network of friends and neighbors; bringing in a roommate or renter as a helper; and legal/tax/fiduciary issues. It is also true that some of us may have to move at some point, to deal with safety or social issues, so we have done some evaluation of senior residences/care facilities. These are difficult and complicated questions. We have found that working on them together in a caring and supportive group makes it a little easier.
