Music lovers and musicians!  Spend an afternoon at the City Club with an inspirational educator and superb musician! Listening to music is a conversation between performer, composer, and listener. With Schubert, Mozart and Brahms as composers, Ashby Village member Jeanne Bamberger will develop that conversation. 

Jeanne Bamberger has an established record as one of the seminal figures in the fields of music cognition and child development. In addition to being an emeritus from MIT, she has also taught as a visiting professor at the Graduate School of Education at Harvard University. Jeanne is currently an Adjunct Professor in the music department at UC Berkeley.   

A highly praised performer of solo piano and chamber music, she has studied privately with world-renowned pianist and pedagogue Artur Schnabel and composers Roger Sessions, Olivier Messiaen and Ernest Krenek.  Bamberger's most recent books include: The Mind Behind The Musical Ear (Harvard University Press, 1995), Developing Musical Intuitions: A project based introduction to making and understanding music (Oxford University Press, 2000) and Discovering the Musical Mind: A view of creativity as learning (Oxford University Press, 2013).
