Have you heard that older Americans are the fastest-growing segment of cannabis consumers? More and more of us are benefiting from the healing properties of this non-toxic plant, driven partly by desire to avoid addictive painkillers and sedatives. Studies prove that cannabis can alleviate symptoms of many medical conditions often more effectively and safely than prescription drugs. There are various ways to use cannabis, besides smoking --  and there are products that don't cause a “stoned” effect.

Join us for this interactive presentation to learn the conditions and symptoms that cannabis can address, and the effects of the plant's compounds, including THC and CBD. We’ll show and tell about: cannabis botany; how to access medical cannabis; how to evaluate, find, buy, and use cannabis products; and cultural considerations. We encourage the audience to check out the educational literature that we’ll provide.

Linda Jacobson has devoted her career to helping people understand and use scientific findings and new technologies, and today speaks and writes on technology and cultural topics relevant to older audiences. As an Eldercare Consumer Advocate, Linda consults with families about assisted-living and also advises tech companies that are developing solutions to support senior health and wellness. Linda was co-founding editor of Wired magazine, world’s first “Virtual Reality Evangelist" (for Silicon Graphics), and author of two books, *Garage Virtual Reality* and *CyberArts: Exploring Art & Technology*. In 2014 she earned independent certification from the Society of Certified Senior Advisors. She lives in Berkeley with her three sons.
