Jim French is offering a repeat of the well-received Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) program, which he has given at Ashby Village four times before.

The orientation session is open to all, with no further commitment required.

At the end of the orientation you will be invited to register for an 8-week MBSR class.

Regular classes run for eight Thursday, April 12 - May 31, 3 - 5 PM,
plus a Mini-Retreat on Saturday, May 19, 9:00 - 4:00

The MBSR program is a combination of instruction, mindfulness practice, and sharing, following a standard MBSR curriculum.

If you enroll, you will be asked to try to practice mindfulness for at least 15 – 30 minutes most days. (Like weight-lifting, learning about it won’t make you stronger unless you do it regularly!)
You will be asked to attend all weekly meetings plus the mini-retreat, to the extent that schedule and health allow.
Cost will be on a donation basis.

Cost for the full class will be on a donation basis. In addition, there will be a $10 fee for participants who are NOT Ashby Village Members to cover handouts.

About the Instructor:

Jim French is the son of Bill and Tari French, very active Ashby Village members.
He began meditating in 1969, has a Master’s Degree in Counseling, and has been teaching MBSR since 2013. For his day-job, he is a Principal Geotechnical Engineer, recently completing work on the California Memorial Stadium and the new UCSF Medical Center at Mission Bay.
He is now working on the design of the California High Speed Rail in Fresno, and studying how it may be affected by the fastest ground subsidence in the world.

Sample course review comments from previous participants:

“I am more attuned to people’s needs, including my own.”
“Very much more capable of living in the moment peacefully. This has done wonders for my anxiety.”
“I am a lot calmer.”
“Fewer Arguments.”
“Class should be mandatory!”
