"A Brief History of Emeryville" - with It's Historian Donald Hausler

Come hear some fascinating stories of our city and the efforts to preserve them from one of the founders of the Emeryville Historical Society (EHS).  Did you know we had areas called Klinknerville, Butchertown, a horse racetrack, dog racetrack, the Oaks ball park, Shellmound Park, several thriving industries, some odd 'sport' contests - Walk-a-thons and Dance Marathons (remember the movie They Shoot Horses Don't They?) along with several gorgeous mansions?
All Ashby Village Members, Volunteers AND Watergate residents are invited.

Donald Hausler is a co-founder of the Emeryville Historical Society, started mostly as a joke over 30 years ago!    He is a retired librarian, who worked for many years at the Lakeview and Main Branch Oakland libraries, and is currently living near Lake Merritt.  He also continues to publish the EHS Newsletter quarterly (funding for the EHS and Newsletter was cut off in 2012, so if you would like to subscribe for a small fee, please contact Finley at finley.robbins@att.net or at 510-450-0546 with your contact info).

PARKING: You may enter on Captain Drive, turn right on Ensign Drive and use one of the guest parking spaces, if available. Otherwise, please park on Powell Street and walk down Captain to the Clipper Club, which is about a block down on your left.  Wheelchair accessible
