Our next Science Forum on June 13 will feature a discussion lead by Rene Zazueta on AgroEcology.

Here is what Audre (who organized this session) says about the session:  Rene Zazueta, from the Environmental Sciences Department at UC Berkeley, will speak to us about the latest developments in Urban AgroEcology, a branch of science concerned with the relationships between living things and their environment as applied in contemporary settings in the USA and in Mexico.  Rene will cover the principles, application, and benefits of an ecological approach to urban agriculture, in terms of health, food production, and living with the environment.  Some practical hands-on activities will demonstrate some of the currently used techniques.  Rene suggests we read the following as an introduction:  http://www.earthisland.org/journal/index.php/elist/eListRead/urban_agroecology_a_lighthouse_of_susta
