Steve Scholl, Ashby Village member, will present a slide program of street photography of Shanghai, China.
Steve is a retired city planner with an interest in photographing urban areas around the world. Shanghai is sometimes called the New York of China. In its older architecture, the city reflects the economic and political dominance once exerted by Western nations. At the same time, Shanghai is a thoroughly modern Chinese city, a major financial center, a hot spot for contemporary art, and a fashion capital. The city exhibits new technology in many forms, from modern infrastructure to extensive bike-share programs to cash-free transactions for purchasing nearly everything. The slide show also includes a side trip to the city of Hangzhou, home to scenic West Lake and many historic temples.   .
