WHERE: Joaquin Miller Park, Oakland; Sequoia Bayview Trail

Open to members, volunteers and friends/guests.

Description: This lovely dirt trail winds through redwood, fir and bay forests on the west-facing slope of the Oakland hills. There is little elevation change (pretty flat) on the 2+ mile stretch.  There are several options for more energetic walkers: from the Sequoia-Bayview Trail the Sunset trail drops several hundred feet down to the valley floor, then runs parallel to the Sequoia Bayview Trail. From this trail the fairly steep Wild Rose Trail or the Chaparral Trail, climbs back up the hill to connect with the Sequoia Bayview to return to our trailhead.

Where to meet: We will meet at Sequoia/Bayview Trailhead on Skyline Boulevard approximately 1/2 mile from Joaquin Miller Blvd.   What to bring: Good hiking shoes or boots for the trails, layered clothing for variable weather, water, windbreaker, snacks. Hiking poles are optional, but a good idea for the steeper option. Heavy rain cancels.

How to get there: Directions: From Rockridge BART, get on Hwy 24 going East Take the Hwy 13 exit going south Take the Joaquin Miller exit and turn Left on Joaquin Miller Road  Turn left at the junction with Skyline Drive (Left arrow at traffic light) After about a half mile see the Joaquin Miller Trailhead on the left. Park along the road on the left side.
