Bay View Trail loop
Description
We will enjoy a flat, easy 2 mile loop around the Emeryville peninsula perimeter, which can be extended by an extra mile or more. The route can also be shortened, if needed, as the outgoing and returning paths are not far from each other.
Meet in front of the Watergate Clipper Club (5 Captain Dr.) to start the trail, which is a wide easily-accessible paved path that takes you around the Emeryville Marina and park. There are views of the Bay Bridge, Alcatraz, Angel Island, and the bay. There are benches along the path to stop and take breaks. Restrooms are available at the start and midway.
We'll be joined by Village member Celeste Burrows, an experienced hike leader and longtime Watergate resident.
Where to park
As you enter the peninsula on Powell St. watch for Captain Dr. a short street on the right with Randy's Market on the corner. Park on either side of Powell St. Note that the left/south side has a two hour limit. Short distance to the Watergate Clipper Club - 5 Captain Dr. where we meet in front to start the walk.
What to bring
Binoculars if you have them, good hiking shoes or boots, layered clothing for variable and chilly weather, water and snack. Hiking poles are optional - trail is paved and flat. Bring your cell phone if you have one.
