Claremont-Elmwood Neighborhood Group Movie

Mon., April 6, 2:00pm
On MONDAY APRIL 6th at 2pm, Rachel Resnikoff invites you to come and view an award-winning documentary at her house on a complex subject.  Let’s get to know each other in a quiet, cozy environment as we contemplate this emotional but important issue.  The film is about 1 hour, plus time for discussion and visiting.  Rachel will provide bubbly water and tea, so feel free to bring snacks to share.

"HOW TO DIE IN OREGON"

How to Die in Oregon
Synopsis
In 1994, Oregon became the first state to legalize physician-assisted suicide. As a result, any individual whom two physicians diagnose as having less than six months to live can lawfully request a fatal dose of barbiturate to end his or her life. Since 1994, more than 500 Oregonians have taken their mortality into their own hands. In How to Die in Oregon, award winning filmmaker Peter Richardson gently enters the lives of the terminally ill as they consider whether – and when – to end their lives by lethal overdose. Richardson examines both sides of this complex, emotionally charged issue. What emerges is a life-affirming, staggeringly powerful portrait of what it means to die with dignity.

We are showing the documentary at this time since a similar End of Life Options law is currently being considered in the California legislature and is being discussed widely in our communities.  This award-winning documentary takes you into the lives of terminally ill people as they consider availing themselves of physician-assisted suicide.
We have room for four more people.  Please RSVP HERE to:  kitvanbuskirk@gmail.com
