Nature Walks:  Redwood Regional Park
Saturday afternoon, January 9, from 1:00 p.m. - 3:00 p.m.

Location: We will meet at the Redwood Bowl Staging area parking lot, on Skyline drive just north of the Roberts Recreation area.

Directions: Hwy 13 south to Juaquin Miller Road. Go left at the stop sign to get on Juaquin Miller Rd. Follow J. Miller Road and turn Left at the stop light onto Skyline Drive. Drive about a mile until you have passed the Roberts Recreation Area entrance. The Redwood Bowl Staging area parking lot is on the right (east) side, a few 100 yards south of (before) the entrance to Chabot Space & Science Center.

This 6.0 mile hike is NOT flat! But it is beautiful. We will start at the Redwood Bowl and head south on the Graham trail, plunging into the redwood forest that the park is famous for. Attached is a map of the trail and an elevation map for your information. At mile 1.7, the lowest point, the broad dirt trail opens into chaparral then oak, then pine, before reaching the west ridge. The trail is well-maintained dirt the entire way.

Options of lesser length are available for slower and intermediate walkers, but the trail is not suitable for wheelchairs.

Heavy rain a day ahead or on the day cancels. Bring poles if you use them, water, wind-breaker, snacks. We’ll have lunch together at a nearby to-be-determined location after the walk.

Carpools: If you CAN DRIVE and take riders, please let everyone know by responding to this forum (not me directly) and indicate how far you are willing to go to pick up riders. Please include your phone number.

If you NEED A RIDE, please respond to this forum giving your cross streets and phone number, and then follow up with a person who is offering the ride. Thanks for making this process easier.
