Hosted by Roger Newman, our walk through the magnificent redwoods on the Sequoia Bay view Trail in the Oakland Hills, focuses on the forest, although there are also some nice views of the SF Bay. The unpaved Sequoia Bayview Trail traverses 1.5 miles through beautiful, mostly shady redwood and bay forests. There is a short loop back to the cars for those who want a shorter walk. We can shuttle a drivers’ car to the end of the trail for those who walk the entire 1.5 miles. This trail is not wheelchair accessible, although the path is mostly even, there are a few roots and dips here and there.
Meeting place at 10 am is a parking lot at “Sequoia Horse Arena” accessible from a small paved road on the N side of Skyline Road just south of the entrance to the Chabot Science Center, 1000 Skyline Drive. At the end of the hike we'll arrange a drivers' shuttle from the south end of the Sequoia Bayview Trail back to the cars. We'll have lunch at the Skyline Bistro at the Chabot Science Center. Should be fun!"
