Joaquin Miller Interpretive Hike
Explore natural and  human history on a 2-3 mi  hike in Joaquin Miller Park. We’ll visit the monuments that the “Poet of the SIerras” built here on his land, take trails through the redwoods, and on our (downhill) return we’ll pass the Woodminster Theater, CA Writers Grove, and follow steps down alongside the Cascades.
When: Saturday, December 26, 11am-1:30pm 
Meet: 11 am at Joaquin Miller’s small white house (see picture,) about 2 blocks up Joaquin Miller Rd from the Hwy 13 exit, on the north side of the road (left side going uphill).
Bring: picnic lunch to carry, optional hiking poles
Wear: layered clothes for variable weather, hiking boots or trail shoes with good gripping tread
Rain: Real rain cancels; for iffy or drizzly weather bring umbrella and rain jacket.
Transportation: Carpool may be possible from Rockridge BART. Reply to the email forum (or to Celeste) if you can take passengers or if you need a ride. 
Transit: 339 bus, 10:30 from Fruitvale BART arrives at Joaquin Miller Rd and Butters Drive at 10:47am. Walk a few yards down the hill to the small white house across the road.
