About this event
Due to popular demand, we are meeting for brunch again! Let’s get together for an interesting cultural experience and a wonderful Thai brunch/lunch buffet at the Thai Buddhist Temple in Berkeley, also known as Wat Mongkolratanaram.
Meet at the Temple on Sun., August 11 at 9:45 am.
Look for a volunteer outside with an “Ashby Village” sign.
WHERE
Wat Mongkolratanaram (wheelchair accessible)
1911 Russell in Berkeley (between Otis St and Martin Luther King Jr. Way)
HOW IT WORKS
We will go inside to a table and buy “tokens” then stand in line and use the tokens to get the delicious food. Depending on appetites $10 - $15 worth of tokens should do it. The food is served on paper plates and there are picnic tables so we can sit down and eat together. It is suggested that you bring some plastic containers for “take away”. There are chicken, pork and vegetarian dishes. Don’t miss the Mango Sticky Rice if you like dessert.
FINDING THE GROUP
Mary Jo Powell is the Ashby Village go-to person. She would like some people (depending on how may are attending) to volunteer to come early and reserve some picnic tables when we enter so that we will be able to sit together. Those people can ask someone else to pick up their food, or go later to get it for themselves. Why not wear your Ashby Village Tshirt so we can recognize each other? click HERE to order Tshirt. Please indicate size and color (tan or black)
TRANSPORTATION
The temple is located just a short walk from the Ashby BART station. Street parking is limited so take BART and walk if possible. If you need to drive, try to carpool.
