Where: Meet at the Vista Point circle - 11 Spinnaker Way, Berkeley - northern end of Spinnaker.

Accessibility:Accessible to wheelchairs and walkers if you stay on the perimeter trail to avoid the hilly interior trails.

Description: The 1.5 mile Cesar Chavez loop perimeter trail features wild flowers, a beautiful view, a beach and sculpture, an area that is home for burrowing owls, and is good for all skill levels.

When you visit this peninsular park and marina, it’s hard to believe that in the 1950s and ’60s the city of Berkeley operated a garbage dump here and was planning to extend the city 2 miles into the Bay by filling in 2,000 acres of water. Those efforts were thwarted by the Save the Bay movement, which started in 1961 and led to the creation of many parks and trails where development had been planned.

There will be an option to take an interior trail to the solar calendar. We should have walk leaders to accommodate various walking speed and distances.

Directions and Parking: Go to the end of University to the Berkeley Marina, turn right on Marina and then left on Spinnaker Way to the Circle- 11 Spinnaker Way. Parking and restrooms are available.

What to bring: Good walking shoes, layered clothing for variable weather by the bay (can be breezy), water, windbreaker, hat for sun protection. Walking poles are always a good option.

Transportation: Members can request a ride from the Ashby Village office- 510-204-9200. Or have a guest bring you, and join you on the walk.

Covid restrictions:
As it is outdoors -  All are welcome! If you are vaccinated, you don’t need to wear a mask. If you are not vaccinated, you must wear a mask.
