Have you heard about Repair Cafe Events?

Repair Cafe Events are a community half day gathering co-organized by Culture of Repair Projects and Transition Berkeley where neighbors bring broken things, others bring know-how and tools - and everyone brings goodwill and zeal for fixing.

What is a fixer? A fixer is someone handy with repairs and an inclination to tinker, and a readiness to help other people do their own tinkering.

A lot of what volunteer fixers do is embolden people to open up their broken stuff and explore what's going on. Community Repair Events are about encouraging folks to participate in disassembling, troubleshooting, and repairing their own stuff. More helping people fix than handing them a fix.

All skills are highly valued! Mechanics, electronics, furniture, appliances, lamps, bikes, toys, etc. etc. ... pretty much anything that can break and be brought through the door.

Through Ashby Village's Volunteer B' Cause Program we would like to send a group of our special "fixer" volunteers to help.

What is the Volunteer B'Cause Program? Volunteer B' Cause is an Ashby Village program that gives our volunteers a chance to help out other local non-profits. It also provides them with an opportunity to build connections with other volunteers as well as the organizations they're serving.
